Description: This building was constructed at the initiative of its owner, Ramón Casasnovas, a shoemaking entrepreneur, with the aim of combining a residence and workplace. Thus, a Neo-Gothic design building was erected, highly characteristic of Modernism, as can also be seen in the Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu.
The façade is extremely horizontal, composed of three sections, with a large number of openings on each floor, all topped with floral decorations on their mixtilinear arches. The upper floor is crowned by a stepped central pediment and side turrets with battlements that enhance the resemblance to a medieval castle. On this pediment, an allegorical coat of arms of the shoemaking industry can still be seen.
With such a palatial structure, it was easy for the building, after the collapse of the shoemaking industry in the 1960s, to be converted into a hotel, also modifying the garden and adding a swimming pool. However, the hotel did not last long, and in the 1980s the people of Sóller were able to enjoy Can Cremat’s facilities when it hosted the Associació Sollerica de Cultura Popular, now located in Can Dulce, where all kinds of cultural activities were held. Since the early 2000s it has again operated as a hotel.
