Can Magraner is a Modernist building constructed between party walls. From the façade, its pediment with grey stone ashlar masonry and the abundance of Modernist decoration stand out. Among this decoration, the windows framed by a central voussoir that projects from the rest are particularly notable, giving the ensemble a medieval appearance.
However, the most spectacular decoration is found inside. A majestic white marble staircase welcomes visitors; on the handrail, two wooden lions guard the space. In the entrance hall, the white marble panelling extends halfway up the wall, with floral decoration in relief incised into the stone and highlighted in gold. Within this decoration we also find the coup de fouet motif mentioned earlier.
White marble continues throughout the different floors, where the handrail balustrade also features Modernist decoration, as do the ceilings and wooden door frames. Today, the building’s use has changed, as it is now a tourist accommodation space.

Did you know:

In 1915, the owner Joan Canals divided the house into two parts, and the larger portion was sold that same year to Francesc Magraner Berio, who quickly altered the balcony panel, erasing the date “1912” and replacing it with his name, “F. Magraner”, in a typeface resembling branches.
