Escorxador Municipal
The municipal slaughterhouse is a detached civic building constructed in a Modernist style. It has a main rectangular block with two storeys, externally divided by a cornice. It features a pitched roof with flat tiles and a highly original solution based on tornapuntes. Under the eaves, a row of shutters can be seen, serving as a ventilation system.
In addition to the roof, the most notable exterior features are the paired side windows with semi-circular arches, and the marés stone bands forming the corners and framing the window openings.
At present, the building is under renovation as it will be converted into a day centre.
The area where the slaughterhouse is located is popularly known as Ses Fontanelles, due to the abundance of underground water.
